According to the guidelines of the Directorate of Health Services, the Government of NCT, Delhi, all consultants who have foreign patients are required to complete these details:
The patient must have a MED VISA – a separate category of visa called MEDICAL VISA issued by the Government of India meant for foreign patients. The MEDICAL ATTENDANT VISA is called the MEDX, and it allows only two persons to accompany the patient as attendants. Holding a Tourist VISA violates the Visa Rules of India if you have come here for medical treatment. Since the duration of treatment varies from case to case, the Medical Visa is extendable.
Patients on a MED VISA or attendants on a MEDX Visa have to register themselves with the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) within 14 days of arrival. Pakistani nationals on a MED VISA or MEDX VISA have to register themselves with the DCP, Special Branch, Delhi Police Bhawan, Asaf Ali Road, Delhi, within 24 hours. Afghan Nationals shall register themselves with the FRRO, Delhi, within 7 days of arrival. This can be done through our PRO Office, telephone extension 1806 and 1807. In case the Public Relations Officer is absent, kindly get in touch with Mr. Deepak Jain posted at the International Desk at the 3rd floor lift lobby. His telephone number is 42252300.
Hospitals are also legally bound to provide particulars of foreigners in the C-FORM to the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO), Delhi. It is the hospital’s duty to advise foreign patients who are admitted in the hospital or getting treatment as outpatients to register themselves with the FRRO, Delhi, and also to send their C-Form. In case the foreign patient or his/her attendant is not staying at the hospital, he/she still needs to send the C-Form through the owner of the premises/hotel where they are staying. Filling in the C-Form is the duty of our PRO, or in his absence, the International Desk at the hospital.
Visa extension is granted on the advice of the treating doctor, on his letterhead and duly signed by him, including a countersignature by the Medical Superintendent of the hospital.
