Fusion Surgery

Introduction

Fusion SurgeryThe four main kinds of fusion surgery are Spinal Fusion Surgery, Ankle Fusion Surgery, Wrist Fusion Surgery and Finger Fusion Surgery

Spinal Fusion Surgery - Also known as spondylosydesis, the surgery is a common technique to remove pain caused by motion of the vertebrae. This is done by immobilizing the vertebrae. The two main types of spinal fusion are Posterolateral fusion and Interbody fusion.

Ankle Fusion Surgery - is a common surgical technique to treat painful degenerative ankle joints.

Wrist Fusion Surgery - Also known as Arthrodesis is a surgical procedure to eliminate pain by making the bones that make up the joint grow fuse into one bone and grow together.

Finger Fusion Surgery - Like wrist fusion surgery, this too is a surgical technique in which the bones that make up the joint grow together to fuse into one single bone.

Risks

Fusion surgeries provide long term comfort. However, some risks that may occur are infection and nerve or blood vessel injury.
