Doctors are the face of Gods on earth and this has been proved with the doctor-patient initiative taken at Columbia Asia Referral Hospital in Bengaluru. Recently a ‘Kidney Transplant Patient Support Group’ has been started for the 32 year old Anita who has been suffering Chronic Kidney disease for last 2 years and is yet to find a donor for the resurgence of her life. The main aim behind starting this program is to bring awareness among the people regarding kidney diseases and their preventions as well.
Patients having similar story like Anita were a part of this doctor-patient initiative that took place in Columbia Asia Referral Hospital in Bangalore. The program saw as much as the participation of 300 kidney patients who have either undergone kidney transplant or going through a dialysis program along with specialist doctors and surgeons including the chief transplant surgeon Dr. Ajit Huilgol and Nephrology chief Dr. Sankaran Sundar. All the patients shared their firsthand account of dealing with the kidney disease.
The objective of this event was to educate people regarding kidney disease and its impediments and help them lead a normal life without any health complication. The program concluded with the felicitation of the patients who undergone successful transplant procedure and kidney donors who contributed in saving lives. With this successful initiative of Columbia Asia Referral Hospital, it might be expected that other medical institutions will too follow their footsteps in bringing hope in the hearts of diseased people.
