An Indian official on Wednesday told the press that India will soon open a representative office in Jordan to promote Indian tourism in the kingdom. Both India and Jordan has declared 2012 as a “year of tourism development in the two countries”. The Indian Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahai said that this collaboration between the two nations will contribute towards promoting the tourism industry of both India and Jordan.
Tourism Minister Sahai further added that they will soon have a group meeting on this issue to discuss the parameters that will contribute towards increasing tourist traffic between the two countries. This meeting will also focus to develop joint marketing programs and human resource in the field.
The earlier reports showed that 70,000 Indians visited Jordan in the year 2011, while the number of Jordanians visiting India last year couldn’t exceed the figure of 11,000. This huge difference in figures is accumulated to be the result of lack of knowledge of the Jordanians about India as a tourist destination. Thus, the Indian Tourism Department is going to organize a road show in Jordan by the title ‘Incredible India’ which will attract more Jordanian tourists to India in the near future.
Moreover, it is also expected that this kinds of initiative will promote medical India tourism to Jordan and other countries of the world. India is considered to be one of the best seats for high-end medical facilities all across the world and is also a potent nation to offer quality medical study facilities to the students worldwide.
A good number of Indians live and work in Jordan. Thus, this friendly India-Jordan collaboration will certainly promote the tourism industry along with making a strong bond between these two nations.
