Apollo Health City, Hyderabad, has been bestowed the prestigious award for Best Medical Tourism Facility for the second consecutive year. The award was given to Dr. Prathap C Reddy, chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group by Honorable President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. “This award is a great inspiration and bestowed more responsibility on our shoulders. Team Apollo will continue its journey towards making India a global healthcare destination with renewed energy and vigour,” said Dr Reddy. The President spoke at length about the need for an effective mechanism, while sticking to the “Incredible India” adage.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Reddy pointed that India had the requisite resources to make it big as a medical tour destination and that it was heartening to see the participation of multi-national healthcare chains in India’s medical initiatives.
The National Tourism Awards were chaired by Dr. K Chiranjeevi, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Tourism. The minister, in his address, emphasized about reinventing all tourism products and the timely need to introduce novelty in hospitality services. The Committee recognized Apollo Health City’s contribution to the budding medical tourism sector and lauded the efforts made by the management in successful promotion and marketing of medical tours.
