Apollo Group of Hospitals, one of the leading healthcare providers in India, will establish the revolutionary Proton Therapy Center to treat cancer patients. The Apollo group will directly fund INR 400 crores into the project, which will be the only of its kind in east Asia, Australia and Africa.

India currently has about 3 million cancer patients and a staggering 1 million patients are diagnosed every year. Since most of these patients are diagnosed in highly advanced stages, getting state of the art cancer treatment has become really important. Proton therapy is easily the most advanced of all cancer treatments and destroy tumors by depositing all stored energy effectively within the tumor area.
